Wasps Nest Control

Wasps will hurt to guard themselves or their colony. They will hurt by injecting protein venom that causes pain and other reactions. Wasps will sting more than once since they can pull out their stinger without damage to themselves. If you are injured by a wasp, the stinger is not left in your skin.

Wasp Control

June stands the best time of the year to control wasps since the queen will establish her colony and it will be small. They are harder to find because of their small nests. The finest time to manage wasp nests is at night, because they are less active at that time.

Exposed wasp nests

Exposed kind of wasp nest will be visible but not near to your home or areas of human activity. They do not need to be treated and it won’t bother you if they are not distributed.

Wasp can pose a potential problem if its nest is being found near human activity.

Make use of aerosol “wasp and hornet spray” into the doorway of the nest during late evening. If no movement is observed the next day, the nest has been successfully exterminated. If live wasps are still observed, do again the treatment at three-day intervals until they are all dead.

Ground wasp nests

When you found yellow jackets nesting in the ground, first try to pour any kind of soap and water solution into the entrance. If it doesn’t work, make use of an insecticide into the nest opening. Be sure that you use a product that is cleared for use in lawns or soil. It has been said that dusts insecticides are more valuable than liquid insecticides since liquids do not always attain the nest. After using insecticides ensure that all the wasps have been exterminated and cover the nest entrance with soil. Use one of the following insecticides when treating with ground-dwelling wasp nest

  1. carbaryl (e.g. Sevin) as a dust
  2. chlorpyrifos (e.g. Dursban) as a dust
  3. carbaryl (e.g. Sevin) as a liquid concentrate
  4. acephate (e.g. Orthene) as a liquid concentrate
  5. diazinon as a liquid concentrate

Concealed wasp nests

Concealed wasp nest is the most challenging nests to control and it is hidden in empty spaces behind walls or in attics. The presence of wasp nest is confirmed with its movement flying back and forth through a hole in the home.

Aerosol insecticides do not work very fine against hidden nests. The best technique is to apply a small amount of insecticidal dust. Use one of the following insecticide dusts while treating with wasps nests

  1. bendiocarb
  2. chlorpyrifos
  3. boric acid
